When people buy a home they tend to look at the interior and exterior of the property and overlook its ‘guts’ and nothing is gutsier in a house than its electric system. But, because the average homeowner knows or understands little about electricity – and this is not an indictment, after all electricity is a sophisticated subject – it is usually not discussed until something goes wrong! So, how can we help you as an electrical service company? Here are just a few of the services we provide to help put your mind at ease.
• A home safety check. What is this? An electrical inspection is a thorough examination of your electric system throughout the entire home to ensure that all of the wiring, systems, components and appliances are up to code and can be used safely. The Electric Safety Foundation recommends that homes forty years and older should undergo this inspection, as well as new home purchases, renovations and when adding an appliance. Truer words were never spoken when it comes to electricity – it’s better to be safe than to be sorry!
Here are just a few examples of what you can expect from a home inspection: check the breaker box and tighten or repair if necessary, check the meter box and ensure it is properly grounded, visually inspect wiring, smoke alarms, CO detectors and more.
• Second opinion anyone? You have long been advised to get a second opinion when it comes to your health – now how about doing the same thing for your home? Again, an abundance of caution is the best course of action when it comes to ensuring that your home’s electrical systems are all operating in tip-top shape. So, even if you’ve had an inspection a second set of eyes might be worth the cost.
• Do you need to add some electrical extras around the house? We can install light fixtures and chandeliers, brace boxes and photo cell units, outlets and covers, stack switches and new devices and more. While being a fan of the DIY trend might be satisfying, it’s never a good idea to take on electric projects as an amateur.
